Tips for choosing the right photo

- 1 -

Resolution is key
In order to achieve detail in the painting process, the photo will need to be big enough so that it isn't pixellated when I zoom in on details.  Photos taken from Instagram and Facebook aren't high-enough quality, so please send the original for best results.

Take care with your lighting.
As a general rule, natural lighting is best to give the most accurate tone and contrast.  Be conscious of shadows and highlights.
This is especially important for dark-colored subjects like my pup, Ribs, pictured below.

Choose your background wisely.
I paint what I see in the photo, so please position the subject in a place with a nice background, as that is what will be hanging on your wall.
For pets, I recommend something outdoors with greenery in the background, or cozied up to a nice-colored blanket.
Please avoid sending indoor shots against a blank wall.
